About Us

How we started:

Mishiki was started in search of the most comfortable, flattering, bikini fabric while still being sustainable. Once the fabric was found we started to design swimwear to fit real women, having our fit models be our friends who are all different shapes and sizes. The line was created in the Hamptons, NY and is made in Peru.

Inspiration

Inspiration for the line came from the beachfront, A Frame, surf shack at which our Co Founder, Matt spent all his summers; playing, surfing, and enjoying outdoor dinners. When Co Founder, Michelle moved out to the Hamptons, she spent the summers at this house. It is even where she met her husband. The house was built by Andrew Geller in 1958 in Amagansett, NY. The concept was a simple beach house that was designed to be a summer retreat for every family and to emphasize the indoor-outdoor nature based lifestyle that creates a genuine sense of happiness. This is the lifestyle that Mishiki Swim embodies.

Fabric

Made from biodegradable Nylon called Amni Soul Eco.

Co Founder: Michelle McGuire

Starting her career in fashion right out of college, Michelle found a job working with a local shop owner. She started part time as a salesperson, and worked her way up to manager, helping the owner with buying and merchandising. She then went to work for Theory, where she gained new experience in data analysis to assess customer needs, product success, and money mapping visual skills.

Next, Michelle landed at Urban Zen by Donna Karen. Being on such a small team she was able to help with not only the day-to-day store needs, but also help with the design and buying process. Working here, she got to meet many talented designers and gained the knowledge and confidence to start her own brand.

Michelle loves the outdoors and recently moved to Lake Tahoe, CA to pursue a life of simplicity and adventure. Being able to walk out her front door and hike to a waterfall in the summer or walk to the lifts to go snowboarding in the winter is a dream come true.
